On behalf of the community, Twitch streamer TimTheTatman voiced the question to Lead Designer Trevor “Classick” Romleski, who responded with a “no.” Though, he did explain why Riot Games has decided to go this route.

According to Romleski, Riot understands how important it is for a game like Valorant to have Ranked as early as possible. However, the developer wants to give players an adjustment period — time to learn and experiment with the game’s characters and possible team compositions without having to worry about failing and dropping down in ranks.

Riot will apply this mindset to Valorant’s full release, as well. At least that’s the plan for now. It may or may not launch Ranked on day one.

On another note, Valorant gameplay streams have revealed all of the ranks that players will climb and obtain when playing through Ranked. There are eight in total, and in order of least to greatest, they include Mercenary, Soldier, Veteran, Hero, Legend, Mythic, Immortal, and VALORANT.

Valorant releases sometime summer 2020 on PC.
