The leak comes from Reddit user Mang0eLeaks, who claims to have datamined Valorant version 1.03 to acquire this information. They share some map filenames discovered in the game that include the term “FFA,” which of course likely stands for Free For All. The game mode is only set up for a single map according to this datamine, that map being Ascent. But, obviously, more maps could be added down the line.

Mang0eLeaks believes that the inclusion of just a single map in Valorant’s latest update implies that Riot is simply testing a potential Free For All. If it was nearing completion or was further along in development, there’d likely be more information to find in Valorant’s files. As such, the most that can be assumed is that Riot is experimenting with Free For All.

Just because Riot is experimenting with Free For All doesn’t mean that it will be officially added to the game, of course. And if it is, it doesn’t mean that it’d be a permanent addition or something parallel to Valorant’s other two game modes. It just means Riot is experimenting and that’s that.

After all, there are many things to take into consideration when adding a game mode. Things that don’t even have anything to do with whether the mode is fun to play and popular. For example, if Free For All ended up pulling traffic away from Valorant’s Bomb game mode and disrupting matchmaking’s competitive integrity. A new mode may not be feasible, or it could make Valorant all the more popular.

Nothing official has been announced from Riot regarding the Free For All mode. Riot has previously said that it’ll continue to work on Valorant, with a Deathmatch-like mode specifically being acknowledged. It’s just a matter of time before Riot shares more information.

Valorant is available now on PC.
