When it was announced, Valkyrie Elysium received two release dates depending on the platform. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners would get the game near the end of September, while PC players would see the game launch in November. With the game now out on all platforms, gamers can get a chance to experience this new entry on their system of choice. Square Enix has recently released a trailer that details not only the game’s launch on this new platform but a free content update as well.

This launch trailer shows off some of the basic gameplay for Elysium, along with its premise and characters. This includes Odin, the Valkyrie herself, along with the party of Einherjar in the game. Alongside this, the trailer reveals some of its new content, the first being a new mode known as “Hilde’s Vengeance.” In this mode, players will take control of Hilde, a dark Valkyrie that is looking to exact her revenge on Odin. She has her own unique moveset, with a set of unique attacks and a skill tree for players to experiment with.
The trailer also reveals a new piece of endgame content known as The Seraphic Gate. It will pit the player against waves of enemies, along with a time limit to clear each floor. With each one completed, the challenges will get tougher, as there will be a set of fixed skills, Einherjars, Divine Arts, and more in a player’s loadout for a certain floor. The Seraphic Gate or Hilde’s Vengeance can be experienced after the player has unlocked at least one of the multiple endings in Valkyrie Elysium.
The last additional feature of this content update is two new difficulty modes for Valkyrie Elysium. The first is Very Hard, which adds more challenge to the game, where the key to success is exploiting enemy weakness and using their Einherjars effectively. There’s an even higher difficulty mode that will be added known as Valkyrie, which will test the player’s strategy, skills, and reflexes according to Square Enix. This free update is available now for all three platforms, where PS4 and PS5 owners will need to download it first. The PC version on the other hand has this update built-in.
Valkyrie Elysium is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
