That’s right, stop the presses! We’ll apparently be getting some kind of real news out of Valve, and soon. Gabe Newell recently spoke with PC Gamer and teased the upcoming surprises: As always, Gabe Newell seems extremely confident in the quality of work his team is doing, and also just how much what they’re working on will please their fans. Valve has actually given us a fair amount of surprises already within the past few months, such as Portal 2’s announcement....

Players have been speculating excitedly about what kind of agent Harbor would be, and how his abilities would factor into the gameplay. The official Riot Games announcement describes him in the following way: “Hailing from India’s coast, Harbor storms the field wielding ancient technology with dominion over water. He unleashes frothing rapids and crushing waves to shield his allies and pummel those that oppose him.” But Valorant players have only begun to puzzle out how best to play Harbor....

Valorant players now have access to a new map called Icebox, which has been released ahead of schedule and is therefore considered to still be in a beta state. This means that competitive players won’t be able to earn new ranks on the map until October 27. In the meantime, the map will be available to play in Unrated, Spike Rush, and Deathmatch modes, and players who queue for Unrated games will get placed in the Icebox map more often....

During Valorant’s closed beta, the game saw nearly 150 million hours watched on Twitch just in the game’s first seven days on the streaming platform. The game has since undergone a full launch, though at least one pro gamer thinks Valorant launched too soon. The new Valorant character, Skye, was supposed to be added to the game as part of the 1.11 patch. Among Skye was a few other changes to the game economy and tuning on some of the current agents, including buffs and nerfs was also confirmed. Riot has already revealed some information about the upcoming patch update. With the addition of the new map ‘Pearl’, which is expected to be underwater-themed, players can expect some major changes to the game. However, with the introduction of every new update, developers introduce a new skin bundle. This time, they are expected to drop a new line of skins codenamed “DemonStone” with the introduction of the patch 5.0 update....

Valve’s Steam Deck is basically a handheld gaming PC, so naturally there are going to be users who want to install the newest version of Windows onto it. However, Microsoft’s push for security in Windows 11 means a lot of systems either aren’t compatible or will need a firmware/BIOS update in order to run it. This throws Steam Deck’s ability to run Microsoft’s upcoming operating system into doubt, but Valve has assured PC Gamer that it’s making Windows support a high priority....

Unlike the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive launch bundle includes with it two tracked motion controllers as well as two “Lighthouse” sensors. This allows, with a little set-up, a Vive owner to create an open space where both their VR headset and their controllers are tracked in virtual reality. Players will be able to turn, duck, lean and poke or pick up items at their leisure. A large majority of the Vive launch line-up focuses on this tech, though some controller and keyboard experiences are available as well....

Valve was founded in 1996 by two ex Microsoft employees who took the first-person shooter genre by storm with the release of the groundbreaking sci-fi action shooter Half-Life for PC in 1998. Since then Valve have gone on to pioneer virtual reality technology, culminating in the release of Half-Life: Alyx in 2020, which won Game of the Year at the 2020 VR Awards. Earlier this year the company also released the Steam Deck, a handheld gaming system with access to the full Steam game library service, to rival Nintendo’s popular Switch system....

Valve’s Steam Deck Sells Out in Seconds As literally everyone expected, pre-orders for Valve’s new Steam Deck performed well, with the handheld PC selling out practically as soon as it went live. You can confirm this yourself via the Steam Deck Pre-order page at SteamPowered.com. The ordering system went live on Sunday, July 18th, following a tweet from Valve to inform everyone of such. Obviously this caused a massive scramble, which saw the console selling out until Q1, 2022 for the base model, and Q3, 2022 for the NVMe models....

Valve is promoting the Valve Index as a state-of-the-art VR headset. The Index’s full kit will sell for a whopping $999, and plans to ship by June 28th. Unlike recent wireless forays into VR like the upcoming Oculus Quest and Nintendo Labo VR, the Valve Index requires players to have their headset connected to a high-range computer by a cable. Rather than offering portability and novelty, the Index is designed to take the next step forward in performance, and has the specs to back it up....

The first Valkyrie Profile game was originally released on PlayStation in 1999, with it being a commercial and critical success. This lead to the game getting an enhanced port in 2006, which was released on the PlayStation Portable as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This is the only Valkyrie Profile game that had a re-release, with the other entries only being available on the systems they originally launches on. Fans who are looking to experience its origins will be able to try out the enhanced port when it comes to PS4 and PS5 this September....

Within a few days, players were learning to exploit Omen’s teleport on Icebox. Similarly, players also discovered a particular spot on Haven, where Killjoy’s turret could pull off a hollow-man. Lineups are always an interesting thing on closed maps like Valorant. However, players need to know how to use it and effectively counter it to get about these lineups. Nevertheless, this game-breaking glitch or bug allows Killjoy to get multiple kills without even being noticed....
